Named after its founder Jim Corbett, the Park is a haven for a wide variety of flora and fauna, which include Tigers, Elephants, four species of Deer, Wild Boars, Leopards, the Jungle Cat and the Fishing Cat. You may also spot smaller residents like the Mongoose, the Common Otter, the Himalayan Palm Civet and the Blacknaped Hare. The shores of the Ramaganaga River, which makes its way through the Park harbours crocodiles, while its rocky hill sides are populated by Ghoral or Goat Antelopes. Rhesus monkeys and Langurs are evenly distributed throughout the Park.
CNP is also a birdwatcher’s paradise with over 580 avian species which include Water Fowl, several species of Woodpeckers, Peafowl, Kites, the rare Chir Pheasant and many more.
